Important notice with regard to the Audible Pedestrian Signals at the entrance and across the MAB Site

At the Entrance and Across the MAB site

The city of Montreal has changed the button of the Audible Pedestrian Signals installed at the entrance and across the MAB site (Sherbrooke West / Monkland / Coronation).

The previous buttons were removed by the city due to vandalism. The new button they installed is called the "Bulldog". Unlike the previous button, the new one features a round, smooth metal plate design.

It is important to note that only the button has changed and that the activation process of the Audible Pedestrian System remains the same.

How to use the new button to activate the Audible Pedestrian Signal:

  • Place the palm of your hand over the entire surface of the metal plate and hold for 5 seconds to get the activation signal;
  • Unlike the previous button, the “Bulldog” button do not depress during activation, therefore you will not feel it “sink in”.
  • The button also includes a red light indicating to the sighted people that the pedestrian cycle has been activated. For people with low vision please note: do not pay attention to the red indicator light and continue to hold for 5 seconds until you hear the activation sound of the Audible Pedestrian Signal.

If you have any difficulty using the new Audible Pedestrian button, we encourage you to contact your Orientation and Mobility Specialist. You should, at all times, avoid crossing Sherbrooke Street without hearing the audible signal. Do not take any chances, always be safe.

Please note that this information will also be available on the Centre's Publiphone.
