wish to receive services in English or in ASL (American Sign Language)
Services offered:
Assessment of auditory and communication skills
Assessment, counselling and training in the use of technical
aids for the Deaf and Hard-of-hearing
Counselling and training in strategies for improved
communication with family and surroundings
Psychosocial support for the client and next of kin
Support group for persons with acquired deafness or who became
hard-of-hearing
Complete before and after cochlear implant rehabilitation
program which includes:
Complete Intensive Functional Rehabilitation (IFR) Program
after a cochlear implant
Technical support for cochlear implant (Troubleshooting and
emergency service: 514-488-5552, ext. 4016)
Support for integration into community, work and leisure
activities
American Sign Language (ASL)classes
Deaf Adult Workshop Series (DAWS) promoting personal autonomy
and knowledge of current resources
A multidisciplinary team of professionals working in
collaboration to respond to the needs identified by the
client/parents from the following disciplines:
Audiology
Psychology
Social Services
Special Care Counselling
Speech Therapy
Services are offered:
At the MAB site
At the Satellite office at the Jewish Rehabilitation Hospital,
Laval
In the person’s environment (home, school, workplace)

To access services:
To be eligible to receive services, the person must be
diagnosed with a sensorineural or permanent conductive hearing loss
and report persistent and significant difficulties in executing
life habits as a result of the hearing loss.
The referral source must include a copy of the audiogram as
well as any other pertinent report with the Request for Services
Form (DSIE Form for professionals working within the Health and
Social Services Network).
