hearing loss, who wish to receive services in English or in
ASL (American Sign
Language).

level (hearing, speech, behaviour, etc.)
Interventions supporting the child’s development
Auditory-Verbal Therapy (AVT)or any other approach, according
to need
American Sign Language (ASL) classes
Psychosocial support for the child and his/her family
Assessment, counselling and training in the use of technical
aids
Support for integration into daycare, school and leisure
activities
Parent workshops and group support (school integration,
behaviour management, etc.)
"Explorations" Program assisting parents to explore various
communication options and to choose the one best suited to their
child
“Deaf Buddies” leisure activity for adolescents
Medical consultation (developmental paediatrics; Ear, Nose and
Throat)
Complete Intensive Functional Rehabilitation (IFR) Program
before and after a cochlear implant which includes:
Intensive functional rehabilitation program
Cochlear implant technical support (troubleshooting and
emergency service: 514-488-5552, ext. 4016)

collaboration to respond to the needs identified by the

To access services:
To be eligible to receive services, the child must be diagnosed
with a sensorineural or permanent conductive hearing loss and
report persistent and significant difficulties in executing life
habits as a result of the hearing loss.
The referral source must include a copy of the audiogram as
well as any other pertinent report with the Request for Services
Form (DSIE Form for professionals working within the Health and
Social Services Network).
